In September, the AHIBS research community gathered for our Research Away Day at Monkey Canopy Resort, a refreshing break from our usual routines and a chance to reconnect with our purpose as researchers. The highlight of the day was a hands-on Systematic Literature Review (SLR) writing workshop, facilitated by Dr. Hayrol Azril from UPM, a well-respected expert in literature review writing.
We organised this SLR workshop with a clear intention: to strengthen our capabilities in producing high-quality SLR papers, which not only enhance academic visibility and citations but also equip us with robust foundations for future research and publications.
Throughout the session, participants gained a deeper understanding of SLR structures, protocols, and tools. More importantly, the workshop resulted in tangible outputs—drafts of SLR papers, refined research directions, and renewed commitment to journal writing.
This month, we also recognise Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ong Choon Hee as our Researcher of the Month for September. His strong research contribution, active publication record, and continuous commitment to advancing knowledge within his field exemplify the dedication and excellence we strive for within AHIBS.
Beyond learning, the Research Away Day served as a space for bonding, collaboration, and peer support. Stepping away from campus allowed us to reflect, exchange ideas, and motivate each other in a more relaxed environment.
As we continue our journey toward stronger research culture and impactful scholarship, this Away Day reminded us that growth happens not only through knowledge, but also through community.
“When researchers learn together, they grow further—individually and collectively.”
