Congratulations! AHIBS Department of Business Administration lecturers, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Noraini Abu Talib, Dr. Umar Haiyat Abdul Kohar, and Dr. Zuraidah Sulaiman are among 28 people nationwide appointed as the Entrepreneurship Ecosystem Builders by Malaysian Global Innovation and Creativity Centre (MaGIC). These three academicians are also representing UTM Centre For Student Innovation & Technology Entrepreneurship – UTM XCITE as their focal ecosystem.
To help Malaysia realize its mission to be a truly entrepreneurial nation (Dasar Keusahawanan Nasional 2030 as recently launched by Kementerian Pembangunan Usahawan), MaGIC has designed a series of community-based programmes and capacity building trainings to equip and empower MaGIC Ecosystem Builders (MEB) to grow and sustain their entrepreneurship ecosystems.
To kick off, all MEB have attended a 3-day programme on “Startup Essential: Design Thinking & Business Model Canvas” on 19-21 August 2019 at Cyberjaya. Huge thanks to Ms. Viviantie Sarjuni, the Program Manager, MaGIC Academy (School of Entrepreneurship) for the kind invitation and arrangement. It was truly a great coaching session by Design Thinking world class trainers certified by Stanford Design School, Prof. Dr. Murali Raman, Dr. Robert Jeyakumar and Dr. Vinodan Nair from Faculty Of Business, MMU Malaysia.
As graduates of this programme, all MEB are expected to facilitate and scale this session to the members of their ecosystems. In a span of 1 year, MEB will also have the opportunity to co-organize high impact community-based programmes with MaGIC such as the SPARK, MaGIC Idea Lab, Social Entrepreneurship Masterclass, Grill or Chill, among others, at their respective ecosystems.
Important take-aways: In order to upgrade, upskill and upscale the entrepreneurship ecosystem, we truly need to learn, unlearn and relearn!
